I'm tired of "waiting on Jehovah". I was given this life to enjoy, make the most out of now, and to do the best I can for my fellow man.

if someone asked to state briefly why you left the jw brotherhood what would you say?
I'm tired of "waiting on Jehovah". I was given this life to enjoy, make the most out of now, and to do the best I can for my fellow man.

Will join in the topics soon!

i went to a friend's house last night.
i was talking with him about religious issues.
i told him i no longer feel that the witnesses have the truth.
I can honestly say that I don't have that programmed feeling about Armageddon anymore. It took me a good 10 years to overcome it.
5 meetings per week, 3 assemblies per year, all the constant literature JWs are exposed to, the continuous talk about it being close, etc., can make even the strongest person a crazy paranoid.
DY
it still amazes me how lacking jw's are in social decorum.
i had 4 children while in the b0rg and not once did anyone say congrats.
to me or my husband.
I'm sorry to hear you experienced this in the congregation you attended. It must've been filled with old, bitter people.
The Hispanic culture is very children-oriented. Therefore, they're extremelly nice to expecting women, even to the ones that aren't baptized yet or I've even seen them doting over pregnant-out-of-wedlock women that are new to the cong. They just love babies and pregnancy!
They go all out for baby showers. It's such a happy time, and they sure celebrate it big time!
DY
as you all know, jws avoid celebrating all major holidays because they are "worldly" and "worldly" things displease jehovah.
however, i remember some jws talking about celebrating certain kids' high school graduations.
so it's not okay to celebrate christmas, thanksgiving, easter, birthdays, etc, but it is okay to celebrate someone's graduation?
How about "we don't celebrate birthdays", but of course it's okay to celebrate wedding anniversaries?!
DY
so i am being announced (the new way) as being df'd tonight.
me and my ex--who wont show up so i will be there all alone.
i am still unsure of how i feel about the whole thing.
Susu812,
Hang in there and be strong. There's life after the JWs.
Be well.

when i was a witness, i shared a house with an elder/pioneer named herb.
herb was in his eighties, and he had paid off his two-bedroom house long ago, so he would offer the extra bedroom to local brothers.
it was a good deal, and herb got some company at the house, so everyone benefited.. for being in his eighties, herb was exceptionally fit.
seattleniceguy,
These people only function if you're part of them, and an active participating part at that.
I still haven't gotten myself kicked out, but because I'm considered 'spiritually weak' many in there, even my close relatives treat me different. I too find out about people that died much later than it happened because I'm not really 100% part of them although I still have the name.
It's a sad, sad group of people. Sorry to hear this happened for you this way.
DY
did you get a response?
i know cruzanheart did.
i wrote one letter asking about the un.
I've written to the WBTS a couple of times. Both times it took a very long time to get an answer back, and it was all fluff then.
Recently I've found out that they send a copy of people's letters to the body of elders of the congregation where the person attends.
I'm sure the elders received a copy of my letters, then shared the info among the body of elders, then those elders told their wives who in turn told their best friends, and those friends told their best friends, and so on, and so on.
It's not a surprise to me how I'm treated as 'borderline apostate' by many in there!
DARN!!!!!!!!!!!!

"The former pastor told deputies he had been having sex with children for many years and "also educated the children as to how to perform sexual acts with each other and with animals," Carpenter said."
SICK, SICK, SICK!!!!!!
